The project is primarily aimed at those who work (or worked) in emergency services such as EMS, Fire and Police. We also welcome other professions such as Ski Patrol and SAR team members. However, if you like to fish and are passionate about our cause, we would welcome your support as a volunteer.
Drift Forward events are intended for current and retired first responders aged 18 and over. Due to the nature of our programming and insurance requirements, we are unable to accommodate participants under 18.

No, there are no group discussions, no expectations to share personal experiences, and no pressure to talk about anything you're not comfortable discussing.
Our events are centred around fly fishing, spending time outdoors, and building community with other first responders.
Some people come because they want to learn a new skill. Others come to spend a day outside, meet new people, or simply enjoy fishing. Conversations happen naturally, and they're often about everything from fishing techniques to work stories, family, or weekend plans.
If meaningful conversations about the job happen, they happen organically, not because anyone is expected to share.
