We’d love to welcome you

Whether you're new to fly fishing or have spent years on the water, every Drift Forward event is designed to be welcoming and friendly to all levels.

Our events bring together first responders from across Calgary and the Bow Valley to spend time outdoors, learn new skills, and build supportive relationships with others who understand the unique realities of emergency service.

No experience is necessary, and our guided events provide all the equipment you will need. (Note: If you wish to join our community fishing days you will need your own equipment).

Upcoming Events

  • Monthly Fly Tying Nights

    Dates: November 9th, December 10th, January 12th, February 18th, March 15th

    Join us once a month from November - March to keep those fly fishing blues away in the off season! We’ll be meeting from 6pm - 8pm at River People Guides Fly shop in Bragg Creek for a relaxed evening of fly tying, good conversation and community.

    We will tie 2-3 flies a night, no experience required and all materials/equipment you need will be provided. Register for as many sessions as you like, whether that’s just one or all five weeks!

    Cost: $25 per night, 5 spots each night.

  • Movember Fundraiser

    November 24th @ Sheepdog Brewing, Canmore

    6:30 - 9:00 pm

    Join us for our Movember fundraiser in partnership with Mo Valley at Sheepdog Canmore.

    The evening will feature three short fly fishing films, with local guest speakers sharing their experiences in between. We’ll also have a silent auction with some great items up for grabs.

    Come enjoy some fishing films and get together with the local first responder community.

    All funds raised will support The Drift Forward Project and Mo Valley.

  • Sheepdog Fly Tying Night

    January 19th @ Sheepdog Brewing, Canmore

    7:00 - 9:00 pm

    We’re hosting a Canmore fly tying night with local fly fishing guide Alex Tucciarone.

    We’ll be tying a selection of Bow Valley fly patterns, with Alex sharing tips, techniques and knowledge along the way. Whether you’re new to fly tying or have some experience, everyone is welcome!

    All tying materials are provided. We have a limited number of tying setups available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. If you need equipment, please let us know when you register so we can reserve a setup for you. If you have your own feel free to bring it along!

    Come tie some flies, grab a drink, and spend an evening with the Drift Forward community.
